Additction

In my psychology class (which I earned a measly 82% in, that is another bitch blog entirely) I learned that the first step to treatment of an addiction is admitting you have a problem. Therefor, I decided to publically announce on my blog (that only about two people read) that I, Nan, have an addiction.

This addiction has caused a number of ill effects on my life. I cannot go anywhere without getting my fix. Resturaunts, movies, or even being at home pondering my own thoughts or the entertaining thoughts of my crazy, yet supportive husband. I think about it when I am in bed, I dream about it, I have fantacies about it. It no-doubtedly had contributed to my hypertension and my poor sleeping habits. This addiction has contributed to the "ramped decay" in my general health. It may be responsible for my not liking summer...why me? Why me, I ask. Why can't I have an addiction such as Anorexia Nervosa. At least I could lose a few pounds. But no, my family jeans wont allow me such luxury. I have to be addictively possessed by the demon beverage. The brown bubbly beverage. The beverage that has caused this chaotic destructiveness in my life and continues to do so. I now am contemplating a ten setp program, hopefully on line so I can complete the steps at my convenience. I am hoping the judge of life goes easy on me. I cant live without the Coke. It has been one of my best friend throughout the years. I like it on ice, warm, in a can, in a glass, on tap, or spilled on the street. I will take it from the hands of children without hesitation. Hmmmm. I love diet coke.

Babies, hmmm babies

So Steve and I babysat a little 5 month old this last week. Yikes! Very interesting to see Steve with a baby. He is quite patient and entertainging in rolled up in one great man. He is the total package. I love this.

Her name is Laylie and we called her Laylie Bug. We had a great two hours.

Settle down everyone, this does not mean we are planning to have children. We decided to never breed a long time ago and we are sticking to it. One little cutie pie is not going to change our minds. We really dont like children very much. Actually, I stand corrected, it is the parents we dont like very much.

Since baby Erik died, I have realized how little parents actually appreciate their children. Sure they all say they do, but do they really? Dont they just spend time complaining about their overly busy schedules and how they "deserve" time away. The exception is when they are with other people, then it is how stinking proud they are of the talents of their children. It is odd, in my opinion, every parent thinks their kid has the talent that will take them to the major leagues. Wowsa! Most of them really dont. Wow, huh?

Having dogged most of the parents I know, I feel I must say that there are a couple of fine parents out there. Fred, for example, an outstanding person in whole and whom often refers to herself as a "fern", is the finest parent I know. Every time I talk to her, she never brags about her kid, she just sys over and over how grateful she is to have had him. Even you crazys with kids have to admit, this is rare. I am proud of her. Now people with older children (that didn't make the major leagues) that is another story of how they dont appreciate children but preach how important family is. Dont get me started...

you'll have to pardon my being cynical this morning, I have caught a cold. Anyhow, we had a very great time.

Learning how good of a parent Steve would be...$100. Seeing us both become 2 year olds to entertain a baby...$150. Remembering what it is like to hold a baby in my arms...priceless.
